Assembly Operator

Required criteria:
- A minimum of 1 years’ fitting experience.
- Previous experience with using hand tools and power tools.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Northern Ireland/UK and travel throughout the island of Ireland if required; if you do require a visa/work permit allowing you to work in Northern Ireland/UK you must upload a copy of it with your application. Failure to provide a relevant Visa/Work permit may result in your application not being considered.

Responsibilities
Assembly Tasks
- Assemble sub‑assemblies, and components according to engineering drawings, work instructions, and production schedules.
- Using hand tools, power tools, craneage and machinery to assemble conveyors and hoppers.
- Ensure all components are properly fitted and aligned during assembly.
- Fit motors, gearboxes, rollers, belts, guards, and structural components.
- Perform drilling, bolting, grinding, and basic fabrication tasks as required.
Equipment Operation
- Operating and maintaining assembly line equipment and machinery.
- Use of overhead cranes to transport and move parts and sub assembled conveyors.
- Performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting on assembly equipment.
Quality Control
- Perform quality checks at various stages of the assembly process.
- Conduct visual quality inspections and functional checks on completed assemblies.
- Complete quality inspection reports on completed conveyors and highlight any defects or discrepancies.
- Report any assembly issues or defects to the paint and assembly manager or quality team.
Material Handling
- Organise parts and materials needed for the assembly of a sub assembled conveyor.
- Moving materials to and from workstations as required.
- Maintaining an organised and clean work area to facilitate efficient material workflow.
Documentation and Reporting
- Complete production reports, checklists, and other required documentation.
- Record information such as production quantities, part numbers, and operational data.
- Communicate with line leaders and the paint and assembly manager in relation to conveyor build status and any issues.
Safety Compliance
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while assembling conveyors such as the standard operating procedure.
- Ensure the work area is clean and free of hazards, including proper disposal of steel scraps and waste.
- Ensure you are wearing the correct PPE for the task you are completing such as safety glasses, safety gloves, safety boots and hearing protection.
- Safely operate hand tools, air tools, torque wrenches, lifting equipment, and workshop machinery.
- Carry out basic maintenance and pre‑use checks on tools and equipment.
Collaboration and Communication
- Working as part of a team to meet production goals and deadlines as per the daily production schedule.
- Coordinate with other assembly operators, supervisors, and departments to ensure smooth workflow.
- Providing feedback and suggestions for process improvements.
- Any other duties, within reason and capability, as determined by a supervisor or manager.
Other
- To adhere to SFM Engineering’s policies and procedures.
- To carry out any other duties within reason and capability associated with this role.
